HyperX ALLOY Elite

HyperX ALLOY Elite – Introduction and Specifications

HyperX has pushed into the accessories market with high end accessories at reasonable prices. Their first keyboard which we reviewed here:HyperX ALLOY FPS the HyperX ALLOY FPS was solid for a first attempt but we had complaints and suggestions we thought would fall on deaf ears. We were wrong, HyperX today launches the HyperX ALLOY Elite, a mechanical keyboard with almost every suggestion we had for them covered and even a few things we were not expecting but love.

HyperX ALLOY Elite – Lighting Features

With a MSRP of only $109.99 we were not expecting much but we got way more than even some of the $150 keyboards. Awesome light effects which include:

Solid(Default): Constant lighting with 3 adjustable brightness settings

Breathing: Slow rhythmic blinking that mimics breathing or a heart beat

Explosion: KABOOM!! A Lighting Effect will radiate from individual keys when pressed

Wave: Keys will light from left to right in a wave pattern

Trigger: Individual keys will light up when pressed and slowly fade after one second

Custom: You choose which keys you want to light up.

Cherry MX Reds provide a great tactile feel with silent operation and easy remove caps.Sleeved USB Cable makes for extra durability and a much needed feeling of value with any mechanical keyboard
Nice and Bright LED’s keep you good to go even in a dark room.Zero resistance volume wheel provides you with great volume control and is a must have with any high end keyboard.

HyperX ALLOY Elite – Score Card & Conclusion

Score Card

Quality: 5 out of 5 Great cherry red switches with the much requested volume wheel as well as the very nice rubberized key cap covers make the Hyper X Alloy Elite, feel like the Corsair K70 but with more style grace and features.

Features: 4 out of 5 LED Controls are great to see as well as the Dedicated Game mode key that turns off the windows button. The many LED light effects are a much needed addition to the HyperX Alloy line and should make 99% of people who purchase the HyperX Alloy Elite very happy unless you “need” RGB

Packaging and Accessories: 4 out of 5 Packaging is great and feels durable, there is little fear the keyboard will show up damaged. The Additional keycaps look and feel great but they lack the rubber coating the stock ones have so for myself they will not be used. The wrist rest is comfortable and the guide is simple but useful.

Value: 4.5 out of 5 Almost perfect in the value section with that 2 year warranty (wish it was 3) but the 109.99 USD price point is great and comes in at around $10 less than my no longer favorite keyboard the Corsair K70.

Overall: With the great light features, lower than expected price point and awesome soft to the touch key cap coating the HyperX ALLOY Elite is a must have Mechanical Keyboard for the value gamer all the way up to the pros.

Conclusion

If you’re in the market for a new mechanical keyboard and want to get something with great on keyboard volume control, a USB dedicated port, Cherry Switches and a whole lot of class look no further than the HyperX ALLOY Elite. It may not be RGB but when it comes to gaming “Who Cares?”
